Do You Know Someone Who Goes Above and Beyond the Call of Duty?

Three people stand together. The center person holds an open box displaying a medal with a red ribbon. They wear formal attire.
Lots of people do fantastic things in their lives but very often they go unrecognised. Derbyshire’s Lord Lieutenant asks, ‘can we change things in Derbyshire?’
They may be doing amazing voluntary work in the community, working tirelessly to safeguard the environment, creating lots of employment in a local company, achieving incredible sporting triumphs or helping people face and overcome health problems.
The aim of the King’s Birthday and New Year Honours is to celebrate all these selfless types of activity. Anyone can be nominated for an Honour at any time.

Do you know someone in Hatton who goes above and beyond for the community and deserves recognition?

Derbyshire’s Lord Lieutenant is encouraging residents to nominate local unsung heroes for a National Honour. While honours lists often receive media attention for well-known names, the vast majority of awards are given to ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities.

This could include individuals who:

  • Carry out exceptional voluntary work

  • Support and improve the local environment

  • Help others overcome health challenges

  • Create employment opportunities

  • Achieve sporting success

  • Dedicate their time to supporting others

Honours are awarded twice each year at New Year and on His Majesty The King’s Official Birthday in June.

Elizabeth Fothergill CBE, His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Derbyshire, said nominating someone is relatively straightforward and can make a huge difference to those whose efforts often go unnoticed.

To submit a nomination, you will need to complete a nomination form, provide evidence of the individual’s impact, and gather supporting statements from people who know them or have benefited from their work.
